Valiery Lievanieuski, the imprisoned leader of Hrodna businessmen, stopped hungering at the penal colony in Ivatsevichy. He started the hunger-strike on 13 November, demanding to punish the head of the colony Mikhail Karmanovich, who deprived V. Lievanieuski from meeting with relatives for unmade bed and then prohibited him to receive a parcel and buy food in the colony shop. Valiery Lievanieuski thinks that’s the way the administration revenge to him for defense of his rights and the rights of other prisoners.

The reason for the end of the hunger-strike was the arrival of the commission that must discriminate into the prisoner’s complaints.

There is contradictory information about the inspectors. Some prisoners of the colony state they tried to set them against Valiery Lievanieuski. However, Brest police states they similarly tried to objectively discriminate into the conflict.

Mikhail Karmanovich refuses to comment on Lievanieuski’s pretensions:
-- There are control organs. In the case they find any violations they will take the appropriate measures, -- he said.
