Maryia Bahdanovich Gives Explanations to Procurator’s Office
On 11 November the opposition activist Maryia Bahdanovich was summonsed to Homiel Tsentralny Borough Procurator’s Office. She was detained on 7 November during the official meeting dedicated to the October revolution in Lenin Square for distribution of Tovarishch newspaper and fly-sheets against the considerable increase of the fees for the public utilities in comparison with 2001.
Procurator assistant Andrei Lahunovich informed M. Bahdanovich that a criminal case upon part 8 of Article #172 “Illegal production and distribution of mass media” was brought against her. He explained that the fly-sheets were distributed inside the newspaper, that’s why the procurator’s office concerns them as unregistered attachment. The procurator’s office directs the case to the court. Maryia Bahdanovich can be fined up to 255 thousand rubles.
