Ministry of Information Deprives of Registration Kuryer iz Borisova

According to the information of Belarusian Association of Journalists, on 24 October the Ministry of Information annulled the registration certificate of Kuryer iz Borisova newspaper. The order was signed by Lilia Ananich, first vice-minister. The newspaper founders continue fighting for their rights.

In the order it is stated that the certificate was declared invalid on the basis of the verdict of Minsk Regional Court of 22 August and the excerpt from the minutes of the liquidation commission of Press-service Company of 28 September.

Let us remind that in August the court satisfied the suit of Minsk Regional Executive Committee concerning the liquidation of Press-service, the juridical body that is the founder of the newspaper. Judge Tamara Bienchuk upheld the position of Minsk Regional Executive Committee. She ruled to annul Press-service registration, establish the liquidation commission and liquidate the enterprise by 1 January 2006.

Some days ago Press-service complained against this verdict to the Supreme Court of Belarus.
