Iryna Khalip was Awarded Hero of Europe Prize

On 24 October in London the deputy senior editor of the "BDG. Delovaia gazeta" Iryna Khalip was awarded a Hero of Europe prize, founded by the Time.
"This award shows that there is nothing wrong with a journalist in a totalitarian state taking on some functions of a public activist and human rights activist", says Iryna Khalip before the prize was awarded.
Together with Iryna Khalip the Hero of Europe prize in the nomination "Brave Heart" was awarded to Florence Obenas, a journalist of Liberation, France, who was kidnapped in Iraq, and also a London underground engine driver who rescued people during the 7 July terrorist attacks in London, reported Radio Liberty.
