Court did not grant the complaint by civil activists
The NGO assembly's press service informed that on 26 September Brest Regional Court did not grant the complaint filed by activists accused of holding an unauthorized gathering.
We would like to remind you that in July several public organizations with the support of the Ebert Foundation conducted a seminar on the European Union in Belaya Lake (Brest District). Then the police drew up reports registering violation of the law "On Mass Events" by the head of the Brest Regional Organization of Education Workers of the Free Trade Union of Belarus Valiantsin Lazarenkau and the head of the Brest BHC Branch Ihar Maslouski. In August Brest District Court punished the activists with a fine of 510000 rubles each. Now the judge of Brest Regional Court N.Sianko upheld the district court ruling without any changes. It should be noted that the judge's ruling is based on the evidence of witnesses, most of whom are police officers. "Any seminar may be treated by the authorities as an unauthorized gathering, that's why NGO representatives have to be very careful", said the human rights activist I.Maslouski.
