Penal Facility Administration Destroys Valiery Lievanieuski's Letter
The procurator's office of Ivatsevichy District sent a refusal to the complaints by Valiery Lievanieuski's family, the leader of the nation-wide strike committee serving his sentence in the correctional facility Vouchyia nory for publicly insulting President Lukashenka, reported Radio Liberty.
In particular, the refusal says that the law does not allow the family of the prisoner to bring along a camera and a Dictaphone, or have a pen and paper to note something during a short time visit. In a written request sent by Valiery Lievanieuski to the prison governor Valiery asked for appropriate permission.
T.Stasievich, the Ivatsevichy District procurator, also notes that the letters by the convicts are subject to censure and that "letters by convicts and senders that are cynical and aim to inflict damage" to the governmental agencies and individuals are destroyed. Mr. Lievanieuski had complained that his letter to one of his Hrodna friends had not been sent. This letter was destroyed and the convict was read the destruction report, says the procurator.
