Haidukievich vs. Narodnaia Volia Trial Started at Minsk Leninski Borough Court

On 3 June the trial on suit of Siarhiei Haidukievich, chair of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Belarus to the independent newspaper Narodnaia Volia started at Minsk Leninski Borough Court. The trial appointed Alieh Hulak, lawyer of Belarusian Helsinki Committee, the public representative of the newspaper’s interests. The court refused Andrei Bastuniets, vice-chair of Belarusian Association of Journalists, in the right to represent the newspaper’s interests at trial due to absence of the documents that could confirm that Narodnaia Volia was an associate member of BAJ.
