The charges are based on the same articles of the Criminal code that were used for launching criminal proceedings – part 1 Article 3 (preparation for a crime) and part 2 of Article 431 (bribing). Siarhei Skrabiets was arrested on 15 May and continues to be on hunger-strike in the investigative center in Brest.
According to the investigators, the businessman and the former deputy of the Chamber of Representatives allegedly attempted to bribe the unemployed resident of Brest so that the latter would help a better outcome of a commercial transaction conducted by the company of Skrabiets.
