Hanna Murawskaya, reporter of Obozrevatel newspaper, sued General Valery Fralow in Maskowski court of Minsk with a counter suit demanding 15 million BYR of damages.
On September 28 the court was to hear the suit of Valery Fralow to Obozrevatel newspaper and its reporter Hanna Murawskaya in conjunction with last year’s publication “Are Deputies Kastsian, Navasiad, and Fralow Personal Anti-Semites?” Valery Fralow demanded 100 million BYR (46 500 USD) of damages for being called an anti-Semitist. However, the court session was postponed to October 20 because the journalist filed a counter-suit. She claims Fralow insulted her in his suit saying she had deliberately attributed the words about Fralow’s anti-Semitism to Leanid Levin, head of Belarusian Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities. The reporter believes she honestly performed her professional duties. Obozrevatel’s owner and Murawskaya did not attend today’s court session, reports RFE/RL.
