Special Services Get Active
On 20 August Siarhei Antonchyk, who was member of the Supreme Soviet of the 12th convocation, was meeting public and political activists in Svetlahorsk. They were discussing the issues connected to the oncoming parliamentary election. The meeting was visited by 2 police officers (Alexander Haroshkaw and Siarhei Razhkow) and a person in civil clothes with a video-camera. He refused to introduce himself.
The reason for the visit was a “documents check-up”. All the meeting participants, except for Vadzim Bolbas, had their passports with them. Vadzim Bolbas was taken to the police station for “personality identification”. However, when walking to the police station they passed Bolbas’s house. He suggested they should go in and “check his identity”. During the identity check-up all the participants were filmed.
Svetlahorsk activists believe Antonchyk was followed from Minsk, because such incidents had never happened in their city earlier.
