Independent Newspaper “Rabochaya Salidarnasts” Ceases to Exist
According to Belarusian Association of Journalists
On 2 August the Supreme Court of Belarus liquidated Belarusian Labor Party that acted as the editorial board of the newspaper “Rabochaya Salidarnasts”. The party was liquidated on suit of the Ministry of Information on the charges of violations of the Civil Code, the law “On Political Parties” and its own statute.
At the Ministry of Justice it was said that in this circumstances the newspaper would be liquidated automatically by the appropriate order. Despite of the fact that the newspaper was suspended for two months by the Ministry of Information, the BLP planned to renew its issues in September 2004 and also issue a new newspaper, founded by the recently registered trade union of workers of radio-electronic industry, machine industry and metal processing, a co-chairman of which is the BLP leader Aliaksandr Bukhvostaw. However, several weeks ago the Ministry of Justice revoked the registration certificate for this trade union.
