Minsk City Court Leaves Marynich Behind Bars
Defense lawyer Vera Stramkowskaya points out some juridical aspects which the judges were supposed to take into account when hearing the complaint about illegal confinement of Mikhail Marynich. The lawyer referred to the Criminal Code. Under the Code, the gravity of the proposed charge does not require confinement. Vera Stramkowskaya also pointed out that investigators and prosecutor Anatol Liska had violated the procedure. Stramkowskaya claims she is going to challenge the prosecutor.
Minsk city court agreed to leave Marynich behind bars. Vera Stramkowskaya is going to appeal against the decision to the Supreme Court.
Marynich has been kept in KGB investigation detention center since April 26. Ex-minister and ambassador is charged with illegal possession of weapon. However, his defense lawyers claim no investigative actions have been done in three weeks.
