On 18 May Valery Levanewski was put to Hrodna Investigative Isolation Ward. There he will be kept for 2 months. He is charged with violation of part 2 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Belarus – public insult of the president of the Republic of Belarus.
Levanewski was to have been released on 14 May, after the 13-day arrest for organization of the protest action of businessmen on 1 May. On 14 May his arrest was prolonged for three days for “discrimination in the circumstances”.
