Justice Ministry Wants Belarusian Association of Young Politicians Liquidated
According to RFE/RL, officials of the Ministry of Justice reckon that members of this organization committed repeated gross violations of Belarusian legislation and the organization statute. The association authorities reprove these charges as groundless and state that the liquidation is politically motivated.
The representative of the Ministry of Justice Aliaksandr Kharyton is of the opinion that the office of Belarusian Association of Young Politicians was absent from the association’s juridical address for two years and the organization failed to timely change the title “president of BAYP” to “chairman”. These were the reasons he drew to Judge Filimanikhina for liquidation of the association.
The head of BAYP Aliaksandr Tsynkevich tried to prove that the organization violated neither laws nor its statute. According to him, till the end of 2003 the organization was situated in the place of its juridical address. The seal and the title were changed only in 2004 due to the fact that since July till December the majority of members of the Coordinative Board were on a long mission in Russia.
Belarusian Association of Young Politicians is one of the oldest public organizations of Belarus. It was established in 1992 as Association of Political Activists of the Republic of Belarus on the initiative of a number of deputies of the Supreme Soviet of the 12th Convocation. In 2000 it was registered As Belarusian Association of Young Politicians on decision of the Supreme Court.
