UCP Statement about Liquidation of Public Associations
The United Civil Party Considers the actions, aimed at liquidation of a number of public associations, as preparation of the authorities to the referendum and the Parliamentary election.
The procedures of liquidation of Hrodna regional organization “Ratusha” and Youth Christian Democratic Union “Young Democrats”, initiated by the Ministry of Justice of Belarus, are a planned political “clear-up” of the third sector. The regime’s aim is to minimize the influence of democratic organizations on the situation in the country, including the electoral campaigns.
The UCP offers to political parties and NGOs to hold consultations and join efforts in opposing to the clear-up of the third sector.
The UCP turns attention of the international community and international organizations on the extremely negative consequences of the liquidation campaign and urges to condemn this destructive activity of Belarusian authorities.
