Hour of Sorrow Will Take Place Anyway

The Hour of Sorrow will take place in Tsentralny Square of Homel on April 26, beginning from 18 p.m. The action is organized by the temporary Public committee, consisting of activists of local public organizations.

Head of the Board of Homel regional branch of the HRC "Viasna" Anatol Paplawny says: "The Hour of Sorrow will be held in the traditional way – people will gather with candles and icons. However, there will be less people than we planned, because Hanna Shydlowskaya, representative of the information department at Homel City Executive Committee, prohibited the Promotion Bureau to distribute announcements about the Hour of Sorrow. We wanted to officially inform Homel citizens about it by placing the ads about it on promotion stands. Now we distribute ads and invite people on our own."
