PROSECUTOR LOST SALARY BONUSES BECAUSE OF COMPLAINT FILED BY ELECTION CANDIDATE BREST VIASNA LAWYER ULADZIMIR MALEI

On 14 January deputy head of Malaryta executive committee H. Ihnatchuk illegally refused to confirm signatures, gathered in support of Malei by his initiative group. As the result, Malei appealed against her actions to Brest regional election commission and Malaryta district prosecutor's office. The election commission of higher instance obliged the official to confirm the signatures. But Uladzimir Malei was greatly surprised by the reply of Malaryta district prosecutor N.M. Bilitski. In his reply prosecutor Bilitski informed Malei, that … refusals to register an initiative group could be appealed against to the election commission of higher instance. The matter is, that Malei's initiative group had been registered long ago and even managed to gather signatures in his support, which the city administration refused to confirm.
Resentful to such prosecutor's reaction, Malei filed a complaint to Brest region Prosecutor. After the check-up, Malaryta prosecutor Bilitski was informed about shortcomings in his work and obliged to ensure the appropriate control over law enforcement during the local elections. Malaryta district prosecutor Bilitski was also deprived of salary bonuse for his work in January 2003.
