On 30 January Leninski borough court of Hrodna sentenced Dzmitry Ivanowski to 15 days of jail. Ivanowski was tried for participation in a meeting of entrepreneurs, which took place on 28 January.
On 28 January about 400 Hrodna entrepreneurs gathered on Lenin Square near the building of Hrodna city executive committee. They came together to discuss the conditions on the city markets – total check-ups and fines. During the meeting the businessmen decided: "Not to pay February taxes, not to work in February".
Immediately after the end of the meeting the police detained one of the speakers – Dzmitry Ivanowski. Siarhei Malchyk from Hrodna Viasna reports: "About 100 businessmen were still on the Square. When they learned that Ivanowski had been detained, they headed to Leninski borough police board, demanding to release their colleague. The city police called for special police forces, which blocked Telman Street. In an hour the head of Leninski police board informed, that Ivanowski had been taken to another police station and charged with organization of unauthorized rally. People agreed to come to Ivanowski's trial the next day to support him in court. On 29 January the people were not allowed to enter the court building. On 30 January Leninski borough court of Hrodna sentenced Dzmitry Ivanowski to 15 days of jail".
