Supreme Court Rejected Cassation Complaint of Ex-social Pedagogue Andrei Aliakhnovich
In 2001 the social pedagogue of secondary school No. 1 in Krupki Andrei Aliakhnovich was fired from his working place upon the third part of Article No. 47 of the Working Code of the Republic of Belarus with the formulation “immoral actions of educational worker, incompatible with continuation of this kind of work”. The real reason for his dismissal was active participation in the presidential electoral campaign.
Andrei Aliakhnovich says: “In the article upon which I have been fired, it is said that that “it is immoral to appear drunk in public places, involve children in drinking, practice physical punishment of pupils, etc.”. My behavior was classified as “etc.”. Now I can’t get any job at all in Krupki region, not to mention jobs connected with education of pupils. I tried for several times, but the head usually say they have been warned against employing me for fear of having trouble. At present I have no possibility of employment… The Supreme court answered my complain by leaving the verdict of the subordinate court unchanged.”
