March 8 marks the international day of solidarity of women in the struggle for their rights. Since August 2020, more than 8,000 women have been persecuted in Belarus because they faught for social and political rights and expressed their opinion. Today, there are 171 female political prisoners in Belarus, who are currently held in prisons. In connection with the protests against the current government and the war in Ukraine since 2020, a total of at least 1,033 women have been convicted, of which 242 to prison, 497 to home confinement, 70 to restriction of freedom in open-type correctional facilities, five women to arrest, two to mandatory treatment.
