On January 13, Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakou spoke on the Belarus 1 TV channel about the work of the police during the 2024 elections*. The police plan to inspect each polling station, in addition, alarm buttons will be installed there. Such increased "security measures" are motivated by mass protests in 2020, which essentially unfolded precisely from polling stations, when many voters remained near them to control the announcement of voting results by commissions. There were even cases when members of the commissions did not show the results and left the polling stations accompanied by police through back doors so as not to encounter citizens who could expose the falsification.

According to Kubrakou, the police were preparing for the upcoming elections, "starting in 2020, when the situation was really very tense," and at the constitutional referendum of 2022, "security at polling stations was ensured in a completely different way."

In 2024, for the first time in Belarus, joint elections to the House of Representatives and local councils will be held. A single voting day is scheduled for February 25th. Within 60 days after it, the first meeting of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly in the new status will take place.
