Support Viasna on Giving Tuesday
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity around the world.
Giving Tuesday originated in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has evolved into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to donate, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
The main goal of the day is to create a more just world in which generosity is at the heart of the society that we are building together, promoting dignity, opportunity, and equality around the world.
This year, Giving Tuesday is celebrated on November 28!
Why is it important to support Viasna?
For the first time, Viasna has decided to join the global Tuesday of radical generosity and calls for support for its long-term activities in defense of human rights in Belarus.
Every day human rights defenders persistently do important work, regardless of obstacles and persecution:
help repressed people and political prisoners,
document the facts of persecution and torture,
collect, analyze, and disseminate information,
speak out about human rights violations in Belarus in the international arena.
Alas, five Viasna activists remain behind bars for their consistent peaceful professional activities. These are the head of Viasna and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski, his deputy Valiantsin Stefanovich, lawyer Uladzimir Labkovich, volunteer service coordinator Marfa Rabkova, and volunteer Andrei Chapiuk.
Your donations are not only support for our struggle for democracy and the rule of law in Belarus, but also a high appreciation of our work for the benefit of the Belarusian society.
How to donate to Viasna?
Join us and tell your friends about this opportunity with the hashtag #GivingTuesday and #ШчодрыАўторак.
Viasna has been recognized as an extremist formation: make donations only from foreign cards and outside of Belarus or Russia.
We believe that generosity and solidarity have no boundaries. In these difficult times, it is important to provide support in various ways and every day.
