As the Belarusian Association of Journalists learned, the detention took place on September 14 at the Brest checkpoint, when Siarhei Hardzievich was returning from Poland to Belarus.
According to preliminary reports, the mobile phone of the former journalist of Pershy Rehiyon website was checked at the border, and after that the man was detained and placed in a temporary detention center in Brest.
In 2021, Siarhei Hardzievich was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in a penal colony and was recognized as a political prisoner. The man fully served his sentence and was released in October 2022.
