RIP Aleh Hulak

Aleh Hulak was the chairman of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, a public figure, and a human rights advocate. As a public defender, he took part in dozens of trials and public actions to protect the rights of those whose basic rights were violated in Belarus. He passed away at the age of 55.

Aleh was a reliable and close friend to many people in Viasna. He made a great contribution to the human rights movement in Belarus, and his untimely death is a great loss for the whole country. We mourn the passing of this outstanding man. Our thoughts are with his family, to whom we extend our sincere condolences.
