In Salihorsk, independent observers appealed to precinct election commissions with the proposal to count votes honestly and openly.

The observes ask the commissions to abide by the provision of the Electoral Code requiring the separate calculation of votes with voicing the numbers at each stage: early voting, home voting, voting on the election day and the general results.

Authors of the appeals also ask all observers to be given the opportunity to see for whom a vote was cast in each ballot.

“I have been taking part in election monitoring since 2001. You know, during the calculation of the votes we are usually shown not the ballots, but the backs of members of election commissions. However, my look will not burn down the ballots or change the results. What I used to see has nothing to do with an open and fair calculation of the votes. I'd like to hope that something will be different this time,” commented one of the signers, Uladzimir Shyla.
