Military observer Aliaksandr Alesin released on bail
Mr. Alesin left the remand prison on Wednesday morning. As reported by the newspaper he works with, "Belarusy i Rynok", today on December 10, Aliaksandr Alesin has been released from the KGB remand prison on bail.
It should be reminded that Aliaksandr Alesin, a military expert and a stuff writer of a weekly newspaper "Belorusy i Rynok", was detained by security services on Tuesday, November 25 on suspicion of espionage in a cafe in the center of the city, where he had lunch with an unknown man.
The KGB reported that the journalist was charged under Article 356 "high treason" and Art. 356 para 1 (issuance of state secrets to a foreign state, a foreign organization or its representative, or espionage). This article envisages from 7 to 15 years of imprisonment. The accusation has also been brought against a foreign diplomat.
Aliaksandr Alesin is a journalist and economic staff writer of the weekly. He is the winner of the Grand Prix "Golden pen" award among journalists, writing on automotive topics in business and national media (2008).
