15.10.2013 Hunger strike at Mazyr refinery: new methods of pressure from Deputy Director General, former head of local KGB department?
Two leaders of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union’s office at the Mazyr-based refinery have been on hunger strike at their workplace since October 14. The hunger strike was started by Yury Shvets and later joined by his deputy, Vasil Alkhouski. The latter decided to support the protest, despite being on sick leave after he broke his leg.

Babruisk District Court completed today the consideration of a lawsuit brought by members of the Free Trade Union’s office at the local plant of tractor parts and units (TDiA) against representatives of the administration of the enterprise. It was the third hearing of a claim lodged to demand payments of quarterly bonuses.

On 31 July Dzmitry Kurmaz, adjuster of automatic lines and transfer machines of the 5th grade, was dismissed from the Babruisk Plant of Tractor Parts and Units. He worked at the plant since 2007 and had no disciplinary punishments. The worker is sure he was dismissed because of his membership in the FTUB.
29.07.2013 Slonim pro-dem activist forced to resign under pressure from employer
Viktar Marchyk, one of the activists of the United Democratic Forces in Slonim, was dismissed from the local poultry farm back in early April. He was fired for alleged systematic violations of labor discipline.
24.07.2013 Belarusian Social Democratic Party activist in Mahiliou appeals inaction by prosecuting authorities
Mikalai Zalozny, member of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada), filed a complaint to the Prosecutor of Mahiliou region to complain about local prosecuting officials. The activist argues that the officials have failed to address a number of facts of corruption and abuse of power by his former boss, chief of the Mahiliouablselbud dormitory system Pavel Shyshou.

Judge of the Zhlobin District Court Sniazhana Halavenchyk dismissed the claim of the human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka in favor of a worker of the Belarusian Steel Works (BSW) Maryia Mirayeuskaya with the requirement to collect a pension from her employer for more than four years.

Dzmitry Luchyts, a young doctor of Brest Regional Hospital, member of the independent trade union of Radio and Electronic Industry, was fired on July 5 due to the expiry of his contract, despite his statement of July 4 demanding early termination of the contract because of violations of labor legislation by the employer.

Dzmitry Luchyts, nurse man and anesthesiologist at the intensive care unit of Brest Regional Hospital No. 1, a member of the trade union of radio-electronic industry (REP), has received a notice that his contract would not be extended. Meanwhile, he did not have any reprimands; on the contrary, during the four years he has proved to be a good specialist.
