Two more persons earlier arrested in the case of preparing riots and creating an illegal armed group, Siarhei Kuntsevich, member of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party, and Andrei Bialiauski, have been released from pre-trial detention.

Kuntsevich was the only person involved in the case who did not face an additional charge of ‘forming an illegal armed group’. After his release from the KGB prison, Kuntsevich told in an interview with RFE/RL Belarus service that he was tortured with an electroshock weapon.

“I was on a hunger-strike for several days. I was blackmailed, threatened with violence. They twisted my hands. There were suspicions of a brain concussion, but they did not call a doctor,” he said.
