An activist of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, Dzmitry Dziakau, said that besides him two others were fined for a banner posted on May 19 in Navapolack. According to him, both his friends did not have any relation to the incident.

Dzmitry Dziakau was detained on May 19, shortly after he posted a banner with the letters “BCD” on the fence of the city park. Along with him, police officers detained his two friends, a man and woman. All three met later, and were walking around the city when they were approached by the police. The same day, Dzmitry Dziakau was fined under Article 21.14, Part 1 of the Administrative Code for violation of the “rules of improvement and maintenance of settlements”. An order to fine the activist 20 basic units (3.6 mln rubles) was issued by head of the Navapolack city police department Dzmitry Reziankou.

The activist was confident that his friends were only questioned as witnesses. But it soon became clear that they were also fined on the same charges. A fine of 10 basic units was imposed on a student of the Polack State University, who did not want her name to be mentioned in the media. A fine of 10 basic units should be paid by Yauhen Bialianka. Both were found guilty only for being recorded together by a surveillance camera.
