Vaukavysk residents cannot get information about work of local officials
The chairman of the district executive committee sends formal replies to requests of residents of Vaukavysk about the work of local council members for the past year.
Reader Aliaksandr Sezan sent charter97.org a formal reply from the district council of “deputies” to his letter, in which he wrote that the information about new members of the local council and reports on their work in 2014 didn't appear on the official website of the city executive committee.
“Here is the reply of to my request regarding the information about the work of the council members. In reality, only one council member of electoral district No.13 in the Shkolny constituency presented reports. The others, I suppose, just pretend to work,” the reader writes.
The answer says that there's no law obliging council members to report to voters and officials “forgot” to publish a list of new council members on the website.
“All deputies of the primary, basic and regional levels elected in the Vaukavysk district have reported to their voters on the work done in 2014 in strict compliance with the law 'On the status of members of local council of deputies'. Publishing reports in the media is not provided for by legislative acts,” Vitali Navitski, the chairman of the Vaukavysk district council of “deputies”, wrote.
The official notes that those responsible for failure to publish a list of new council members on the website of the Vaukavysk district executive committee were punished and says that the information about the new composition of the council was published in the district newspaper Nash Chas.
