Krychau District Court exacts 900,000 rubles from “Volny Horad” in favor of Cherykau PMK-280
On 10 September a sitting of the
Krychau District Court considered another claim of
the PSC "Cherykau PMK-280" to the journalists of the
independent newspaper "Volny Horad".
In his lawsuit
the head of the PSC “Cherykau PMK-280” A Fralou asked the Krychau
District Court to exact 900,000 rubles from the editor of the
newspaper “Volny Horad” Uladzimir Kudrautsau, its editor Siarhei
Niarouny and journalist Mikalai Herdziy 900,000 rubles in favor of
the PMK as a compensation of the court fee and the lawyer's
services.
The basis for the lawsuit was the fact that on 17
June the Krychau District Court issued a verdict on the verdict on
the lawsuit “about the protection of business reputation” filed
by the Cherykau PMK-280 against the independent newspaper “Volny
Horad”. The court found that the information about the Cherykau
PMK-280, published in the article “Serfs” in the issue of “Volny
Horad” for 3 February 2013 and obliged the newspaper to publish a
retraction.
Judge of the Krychau District Court Antanina
Kachanava granted the lawsuit of the Cherykau PMK-280 and ruled that
945,000 were to be exacted from the newspaper. The trial lasted for
about 40 minutes.
The journalists intend to receive the text
of the verdict and then plan their further steps.
Bear in
mind that another lawsuit of the Cherykau PMK-280 to the newspaper
“Volny Horad” will be considered on 18 September. The reason for
the lawsuit is the article “Waiting for Your Retraction”,
published by the newspaper on 29 June. The
administration of the Cherykau PMK-280 accuses the newspaper of
discredit of its authority and damage to its business reputation.
It's worth
mentioning that Aliaksandr Kurylin, Judge of the Krychau District
Court, who considered the case on the previous lawsuit of the
Cherykau PMK to the “Volny Horad”, received a promotion at work:
he was appointed the head of the Slauharad District Court.
