Bialynichy activists send solidarity postcards to political prisoners
On 2 August social and political
activists from Bialynichi district, including members of the
Belarusian Popular Front and the civil campaign “Tell The Truth”,
sent postcards of solidarity to Belarusian political prisoners. The
event was timed to the second anniversary of the arrest of the head
of the Human Rights Center "Viasna" Ales Bialiatski and to
the International Day of Solidarity with Belarusian civil society,
marked on 4 August.
On 4 August 2011, the head of the Human
Rights Center "Viasna" and Vice-President of the
International Federation for Human Rights, Ales Bialiatski, was
arrested.
As usual, Bialynichy activists wrote words of
support in postcards to political prisoners and wished them courage
and patience. They also expressed hopes that the political prisoners
would be able to hug their families and friends in the near
future.
What concerns Ales Bialiatski, the activists wished
him yet more creative success, as far as, even in the difficult
conditions of imprisonment, Ales finds time and energy to work on
new non-fiction books.
