Aliaksandr Balobin, an activist of the “Tell the Truth” campaign from the town of Klimavichy, filed today a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office of Mahiliou region to challenge the actions by employees of the KGB’s Krychau interdistrict department who detained and interrogated him on March 27. The activist urges the prosecutor to investigate into the illegal detention by the KGB and threats against him, and to bring those responsible to justice in accordance with the law.

Aliaksandr Balobin says in his complaint to the prosecutor that he was “arrested by two officers of the KGB Krychau department”. “During the detention, they only named the agency, but failed to give their names and posts. Nor did they show their IDs,” argues the Tell the Truth activist.

Mr. Balobin also stresses that the 3-hour interrogation that followed the arrest was illegal. “I received numerous outright threats for my civil activities, and I was offered to become a KGB informant. I was threatened that if I tell anyone about this case, I would be “taken away in a KGB car, and would never return home,” says the activist.

According to the activist, he hopes that the prosecuting authorities will provide a fair assessment of illegal practices by the KGB Krychau department and bring them to justice for their illegal actions against him.
