Brest Region Court upholds eviction of young family
Uladzimir Hadun and his family did not
agree to voluntary live their apartment at house #18 in Herouyau
Abarony Brestskay Krepastsi Street. They think that the authorities
want them to leave the house not because it is in the "state of
emergency", but because of the peace of land in the city
center.
The family, which has a small child, disproves the
conclusions of officials of the Brest City Executive Committee that
their wooden house is in the state of emergency and therefore they
need to agree to moving to a block house at the city's outskirts.
Uladzimir Hadun states, that the house is quite good for living –
there are water, gas, heating and sewage. Moreover, it is located
near the city park, children's and medical institutions – all that
cannot be easily accessed in the remote suburbs, to which the
authorities are trying to forcibly evict them.
According to
the results of the expertise, ordered by the Brest City Executive
Committee, the wear of the house is 68% (just 3% more than the legal
norm). However, the officials insist on the necessity of the urgent
resettlement of the dwellers and explain their demands with the
necessity to extend the territory of the city park.
Brest
Region Court upheld the position of the city authorities and the
court of the first instance, leaving in force the verdict ordering
the eviction of the Haduns.
