Political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich put into penal cell
Former presidential candidate has been kept
in a disciplinary cell since 6 July, serving punishment for an offense.
Maryna Adamovich, the wife of the
political prisoner, learned it only on 13 July, statkevich.org writes.
Presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich has been in the punishment cell for 6
days. Earlier, he was waiting for his turn to a special disciplinary cell. Mikalai
Statkevich wrote in a letter to his wife he was not told why he was punished.
The political prisoner supposes it was “revenge for a disrupted plan”.
Mikalai Statkevich, a candidate at the 2010 presidential election, was sentenced to 6-year imprisonment. He was transferred to prison No. 4 in Mahilou for three years from penal colony No. 17 in Shklou as a “malicious offender of prison rules” who “refuses to mend his way”. The political prisoner met some provocations, which he links to his refusal to apply for a pardon.
