Mikalai Ulasevich, a civil activist from the town of Varniany in the Astravets district lodged appeals to the Astravets District Court and the Astravets District Procuracy to appeal the search that had been conducted in his house on 26 April, the day of the “Chernobyl Way” rally (dated to anniversary of Chernobyl disaster).

Mikalai Ulasevich points at violations and abuse of powers by the police during the search, which was conducted in his absence, in presence of his ill wife. Bear in mind that Mr. Ulasevich had addressed appeals to the head of the Astravets District Police Department and the General Procuracy right after the search, but received negative replies. The head of the Astravets DPD Uladzimir Kvach stated that no violations was found in the actions of his subordinates during an appropriate check-up, and the deputy-head of the Hrodna Region Procuracy Sviatlana Rakhman gave a formal come-off that the “administrative measure was applied lawfully”.

In his appeal to court Mr. Ulasevich also points at a systemic harassment from the side of the local police, asks to find the actions of the Astravets DPD and the Astravets district prosecutor Aliaksandr Martsinchyk (who sanctioned the search) unlawful and protect his rights.

In his appeal to the procuracy he also draws facts of violations and abuses committed by police and state officials of the Astravets district including the district prosecutor Martsinchyk.
