Leanid Mazhalski, an
protector of the public garden in the suburb of Uruccha, was detained in the
morning of 5 July, during the dispersal of a protest of local dwellers against
the construction of a multi-stored house for riot policemen on the garden’s
place.
The man tried to hinder the builders to set a construction ground. As a result
Mazhalski and his wife were guarded to the Pershamaiski District Police
Department of Minsk. There he felt bad and an ambulance was called. He received
charges under three articles – organization of an unauthorized assembly,
hindrance to builders and insubordination to police. The trial will take place
on 17 July.
