Hrodna Leninski District Court has dismissed a complaint lodged by Mrs. Aliaksandra Vasilevich, local leader of the United Civil Party of Belarus.
In her complaint, Mrs. Vasilevich was contesting a ban on staging a picket on Chernobyl disaster remembrance day (26 April) imposed by the city’s executive committee. The picket was also expected to draw public attention to a number of issues related to the construction of a nuclear power plant in Belarus.
However, Judge Liudmila Zhukouskaya upheld the ban.
Another appeal against a ban on holding a picket is still pending in court.
