Aliaksandr Malchanau informed about mother’s death only on Wednesday
On 13 June Aliaksandr Malchanau had a meeting with his lawyer at the Zhodzina prison. By coincidence, the telegram about mother’s death was passed to him this day, though Halina Malchanava died back on Saturday, 9 June.
According to the prisoner’s friends, he behaved stoically in presence of the lawyer and said that the mother had been ill for a long time. Being asked about his own health, he answered that his he had aches in the back.
The reason of Halina Malchanava’s death has been established. The 64-year-old woman died of “cardiac failure” – at night, sitting at the computer.
Bear in mind that Aliaksandr Malchanau appealed the verdict, according to which he had been sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment for alleged theft of metal scrap. The appeal hasn’t been considered so far, thus he is not considered a convict yet.
