Baranavichy residents demand amendment of electoral legislation

Civil activist Ryhor Hryk collected 105 signatures of
local citizens under an appeal for amendment of the electoral legislation of
Belarus.
The appeal proposes: 1) to include in electoral commissions representatives of
candidates, members of non-state NGOs and political parties; 2) to abolish
early voting as the main source for manipulations and violations of the
Electoral Code; 3) to install transparent ballot boxes; 4) to create the
necessary conditions for letting observers see the votes at the ballot papers;
5) to make the heads of the electoral commissions of all levels to hang out the
telephones of international observers and state control bodies.
The appeal was filed with the Presidential Administration and the Central
Commission on Elections and National Referenda.
