Former political prisoner Vasil Parfyankou may face 18 months in custody, 18 months of restriction of freedom or a suspended sentence.

The participant of the events on December 19 learned this information today, on April 19, from investigator of the Pershamaiski department of the Investigation Committee Rabtsau, Radio Svaboda reports.

“The investigator said a criminal case was opened against me for violation of preventive supervision. The worst I may face is 18 months in a penal colony. I do not think they will give me a suspended sentence taking into account the criminal record for the events on December 19,” Vasil Parfyankou commented on the situation.

Vasil Parfyankou admits he has three violations of the supervision conditions. “I once went to a shop when they came to check me at home. Another case was when I was 15 minutes late for a check,” the former political prisoner says.

Parfyankou was placed under one-year preventive supervision on January 5, after the former political prisoner had been detained and sentenced to a short term in custody for taking part in a public action to mark one year since the post-election protests on December 19.

Besides Vasil Parfyankou, Young Front activist Uladzimir Yaromenak was also put under one-year preventive supervision in March. In April, the court placed activist of Tell the Truth campaign Pavel Vinahradau under supervision for two years.
