Alyaksandr Yarashevich, a Radio Racyja journalist, was detained by police in Barysau.
He was making a report about protesting workers at BATE plant.
Yarashevich showed policemen his press card, but they said it was not enough and took him to a police department to verify his identity, Radio Racyja reports.
“I was standing near the checkpoint trying to talk to workers of the shop that went on strike on Monday. Policemen came to me and asked to follow them to verify my identity. I did not have my passport on me and my press card was not enough, they said. They said they would take me to a police department to figure out who I am. I am in their car now,” Yarashevich told his colleagues.
