In his appeal against a four-day arrest for alleged using of foul language on 30 January, Aleh Vouchak, leader of the Kyiv-based Legal Assistance to Citizens Foundation, argues that the court ruling by Judge Aliaksandr Yakunchykhin is “illegal and groundless”, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.

According to the human rights defender, the trial was “biased, incomplete and lacked proper examination of every fact to the case”, which constituted “a considerable violation” of his rights.

“I did not swear or sway my arms. Nor did I shout. The policemen did not address me. I did not disturb the public order. I do not use foul language in general”, says Mr. Vouchak.
