In the evening on 30 October civil activist Artur
Eshbayeu was detained by police in his apartment. Then he was guarded to his
house in the village
of Drachkova, where a
search was conducted. Nothing criminal was found there.
Nevertheless, Mr. Eshbayeu was charged with preparing an unauthorized event and
imprisoned till trial. The court hearings start on 3 October, informs Charter'97.
Artur Eshbayeu was a member of the initiative group for the preparation of the
People'a Assembly that will take place on 8 October. He collected signatures in
support of this event in conformity with the legal requirements.
