Maksim Hubarevich summonsed to confrontation once again
Maksim Hubarevich, Deputy Chair of the Hrodna city
organization of the Belarusian Popular Front, is summonsed to another
confrontation in Minsk, the third since the beginning of the investigation into
the incident that had taken place near the new office of the BPF in Minsk on 13
August.
The new investigator, Patapava, will conduct the confrontation of Hubarevich
and a witness on Monday. According to Maksim, it can be the man who called the
police, because there were no other witnesses. He also says that there are many
inconsistencies in the case. For instance, the “victim” gives contradictory
testimonies.
“For instance, he stated that he had seen me in this office not only on 13
August, but also earlier, several days before, and even made a remark to me. I
can say for sure that I came to the office for the first time on 13 August. I
have 100% alibi that I was in Hrodna, not only in this office, but in Minsk at
all, before this time. The guard told that he recognized me and that I knocked
him down and kicked him with feet together with all others.”
According to Maksim Hubarevich, the janitor who was a victim in the case didn't
recognize him at the previous confrontation, and the “beaten” guard filed a
paper that he had no pretensions to the suspects, which can serve a reason for
dropping the case.
At present the BPF members Maksim Hubarevich, Ales Kalita and Siarzhuk
Semianiuk are suspected of “hooligan actions, committed by a group of persons”,
which is punished with imprisonment. According to them, on 13 August there were
approached by the guard of the building where the new BPF office is located.
The guard was inebriated and started clinging to them. However, they called him
a taxi, which took him away. Soon there arrived police, though nobody called
them. Later a criminal case concerning the beating of the guard was instigated
and the three political activists became suspects in it.
