Human rights defender summonsed to the police for “correcting the violation report”
Human rights defender Anatol Paplauny was detained by
Homel police after the end of the 3 July silent protest action. He was guarded
to the Tsentralny District Police department of Homel, where police captain
Zura drew up a report under Article 17.1, “disorderly conduct”, on the
detainee.
Mr. Paplauny was taken to a remand prison for the night. The following day he
was taken to the Tsentralny District Court of Homel, where Judge Alena Tsalkova
sentenced him to 15 days of arrest for the alleged use of obscene language in
public (in fact the human rights defenders took photos of the detention of
action participants by police).
After his release from jail Anatol appealed the verdict. The Homel Region Court noticed numerous
violations of Process Code in his case and reversed the ruling. In particular,
the original of the violation report composed by police captain Zura has great
differences from the copy which was issued to the
human rights defender.
Now the police summon Anatol Paplauny so that they could correct the report so
that the district court would try his case once again.
