On 12 August, Raman Chuyashou, resident of Zhlobin, Homel region, was fined BYR 770,000 for participation in a “silent protest”, Radio Free Europe/Radio Europe reports. The administrative case of Mr. Chuyashou was heard by Homel Tsentralny District Court 58 days after the protest was staged.
Former employee of Zhlobin emergency department, Raman Chuyashou was the first Homel resident to lose his job for involvement in “silent protests”.
“I thought that I was only fired and that was over. But then I was fined, too. A policeman came to the courtroom and repeated the false information mentioned in the police report”, said Mr. Chuyashou.
