Trials in Mahiliou
On 7 July afternoon the Leninski District Court
considered the administrative cases of some participants of yesterday’s silent
protest action.
Judge Iryna Lanchava sentenced Ales Asiptsoou, correspondent for the BelaPAN information agency, to 10 days
of arrest, fined Vital Zablotski 1,050,000 rubles and issued a warning to
Yakimovich.
Aliaksandr Kisialiou, was sentenced to 5 days of arrest;
Valiantsin Labachou was sentenced to 12 days of arrest by Judge Stanislau Shandarovich;
Aliaksandr Simanovich was issued with a warning by Judge Tatsiana Parkhomenka.
At least 8 people were detained during the 6 July protest action in Mahiliou. Moreover,
Ales Asiptsou, Aliaksandr Simanovich and Vital Zablotski were detained in their
own apartments. On 7 July the police also detained human rights defender Barys
Bukhel.
