News about political prisoners
Here are some news about
the participants of the mass protests of 19 December 2010 who were sentenced to
prison terms.
Illia Vasilevich is in the penal cell and asks to pass him English
dictionaries. Andrei Pratasenia’s brother and mother didn’t manage to visit him
in the Babruisk prison. Aliaksandr Malchanau lost much weight and his eyesight
deteriorated.
His elderly mother Halina is seriously ill and cannot travel from Barysau to
Mahiliou in order to meet the son. That’s why he just phones him. According to
her, censors interrupt the calls in the case they hear something undesirable. They
also cross lines out of his letters.
The youngest convict, Illia Vasilevich, was transferred to the Mahiliou penal
colony #19, where Aleh Fedarkevich and Dzmitry Uss are kept. At present he is
kept in the penal cell.
In his letter to the mother he asked to pass him English dictionaries. He
translates articles and reads much. According to his mother Tamara, Illia
receives many letters of support, both from Belarus and from abroad.
