Brest: KGB violates right to privacy
Uladzimir Katrych from Brest, a coordinator of the Perspective entrepreneurs’ association, reported about iniquitous behavior of local KGB officers.
He got a telephone call yesterday and was invited to see a
KGB investigator. Uladzimir though it was connected with his participation in a
number of public protest actions.
What happened two hours later was a shock for the activist. Mr. Katrych told Narodnaya
Volia that his wife was invited to the KGB as well. The woman was almost
driven to a nervous breakdown in the office. Then she went to court and applied
for a divorce. Later she told her husband that she had been given to listen to
his phone talks. She was told that her husband did not bring all money he earned
to the family and afforded insulting remarks in her address.
Katrych called this a provocation. “What a moral level one should have to do
these ugly things, leave alone the legality of these acts,” the entrepreneur
said.
